Terms of Service

Last updated 10 September 2026. The rules for using Neir. Be decent, don't break Swedish law, and we'll get along fine.

Acceptable use

Your account may not be used to send spam, phishing, malware, or content that sexualizes minors. Violations may result in the immediate disabling of email sending and receiving without notice. We do not delete accounts as an enforcement measure for violations of these terms.

Age requirement

You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of digital consent in your country if lower (no younger than 13), to use Neir. We perform no identity or age verification; creating an account is your representation that you meet this requirement.

Free service

Email is provided free of charge and as-is, with a default storage quota per account. We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service.

Pro subscription

Pro is a prepaid subscription purchased with cryptocurrency through Heleket; there is no recurring card billing and nothing renews automatically. Paying for a term adds that much time to your account. Because cryptocurrency payments cannot be reversed, they are generally non-refundable once confirmed; if our payment processor initiates a refund for a failed or erroneous transaction, it is handled case by case. When your Pro time runs out, your account automatically reverts to the Free plan's storage quota and sending limits. Mail you already have stored is not deleted, but you may need to free up space to receive new mail if that leaves you over the Free quota.

Private anti-abuse proof

Creating an account requires clicking a verification control and completing short bounded and memory-hard cryptographic computations in your browser. The bounded work may increase globally during elevated signup abuse, but it is not varied using an identity, device profile, IP reputation, VPN or Tor status. This first-party proof prices automated bulk registration; it does not identify you or claim to prove that you are human. It uses no third-party CAPTCHA, behavioral tracking or fingerprinting. You may not bypass, replay, outsource or manipulate this mechanism to create accounts in bulk. Free and Pro signup both require the proof.

No KYC

Neir does not and will never require identity verification or know-your-customer (KYC) checks to create or use a mailbox. We will not require a legal name, government ID, selfie, proof of address, phone verification, date of birth, recovery email or other real-world identity record as a condition of access.

Privacy and system boundaries

Our Privacy Policy describes the data needed to operate conventional email, and How Neir works Mail clients maps the technical path in detail. No-KYC does not make internet email anonymous or zero-access: addressing metadata, operational security logs, standards-compatible mailbox copies and message content processed by SMTP/IMAP exist as described there.

Your Account Key and recovery phrase

There is no password on this system. Your Account Key is the only way in, and a 12-word recovery phrase (shown once, at signup) is the only backup to it. You are solely responsible for storing both safely. If you lose both, we cannot recover your account: we hold only one-way hashes of each, not the originals, so there is nothing on our end to reset.

Account restrictions and deletion

You may delete your account at any time from Settings. This is immediate and irreversible. Neir will not terminate or delete your account because of a violation of these terms. Instead, we may disable the account's ability to send and receive email. An account will otherwise be deleted only at the account holder's request or when deletion is required by applicable Swedish law.

Disclaimer and limitation of liability

Neir is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted or error-free operation. To the maximum extent permitted by Swedish and EU law, Neir is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for lost data, lost profits or lost opportunities arising from use of or inability to use the service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that may not be excluded by law.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of Neir is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Swedish courts, except where mandatory consumer-protection law gives you the right to bring proceedings in your own country of residence.

Changes

Material changes to these Terms will be reflected on this page with a new update date. Continuing to use Neir after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms.
