Questions about private email
Is Neir really free?
Yes. The Free plan costs nothing and includes a 10 MB mailbox, webmail encrypted to your own key and 10 random aliases. Pro is $4.99 a month and adds a 5 GB mailbox, unlimited aliases, auto-delete controls, a neir.io address and no ads.
Do I need a phone number or another email address to sign up?
No. Neir never asks for your legal name, phone number, recovery email, date of birth or ID. You pick an address and receive an Account Key, which is how you sign in.
Is my email encrypted?

Does Neir log my IP address?
No. Our web and mail-login logs never record your IP address, and we build no fingerprints, tracking profiles or advertising profiles.
Can I use Neir with Thunderbird, Apple Mail or Outlook?
Yes. Neir works with any IMAP, POP3 and SMTP client. You sign in with an app password generated in webmail, so a device never holds the key to your whole account.
Can I use Neir over Tor or without JavaScript?
Yes. Neir has a Tor onion mirror and a no-JavaScript webmail at nojs.neir.io.
What happens if I lose my Account Key?
Enter your 12-word recovery phrase to get a new Account Key and back into your account and address. Mail encrypted under the old key cannot be decrypted afterwards, because Neir never holds that key.
How do I pay for Pro?
Pro is prepaid with cryptocurrency for 1, 3, 6 or 12 months. There is no recurring card charge and no billing profile.
