Your Account Key signs you into the website. Mail clients use a separate app password, so a device never holds the key to your whole account, and you can revoke one device without touching the others.
Generate one in webmail under Settings, IMAP / POP3 access, App passwords. It is shown once, so copy it then. It keeps working until you delete it: it is not a code that expires after one use.
Your username is always your full address, like you@neirmail.com. Not just the part before the @.
iOS Mail cannot look these settings up by itself, so Neir gives you a setup profile that fills in everything, including its own app password.
Mail is then fully configured. If you would rather do it by hand, use the server settings at the bottom of this page.
If it asks for the password twice, once for incoming and once for outgoing, paste the same app password both times.
Choose to add an account, enter your full Neir address, and pick IMAP if Outlook asks. It reads the same settings automatically. Enter an app password when prompted.
Every plan can receive mail in a client, and every plan can send to other Neir addresses, at @neirmail.com and @neir.io.
Sending to addresses outside Neir is a Neir Pro feature. On a Free plan your client will connect and sync normally, and only an outgoing message to the wider internet is refused, with a message explaining why. That is not a password problem, and there is no need to re-enter anything.
You should not need these. They are here for clients that ask.
| Setting | Incoming (IMAP) | Outgoing (SMTP) |
|---|---|---|
| Server | mail.neirmail.com | mail.neirmail.com |
| Port | 993 | 465 |
| Encryption | SSL/TLS | SSL/TLS |
| Username | your full address | your full address |
| Password | an app password | the same app password |
Port 587 with STARTTLS also works for outgoing mail if your client prefers it. POP3 is available on 995 with SSL/TLS, though IMAP is the better choice on more than one device.
